About the Role: 

We are seeking a dedicated Cost Control Specialist to join our team, focusing on providing robust cost management, tracking, and analysis to support project management teams. This role involves substantial interaction with various stakeholders to ensure financial accuracy and alignment with best practices, particularly for complex and multi-disciplined System Improvement projects.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Daily and weekly cost tracking and reconciliation based on source documents, adhering to System Improvement processes and procedures.
  • Review, code, and accurately track invoices to ensure proper cost allocation to the Project Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • Update and maintain the project cost tracker using data from multiple sources, including Oracle/SAP, invoices, purchase orders, and vendor communications.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in costs billed to projects by liaising with project management teams, Finance, Third Parties, or other stakeholders.
  • Conduct monthly accruals and affiliate billing as required.
  • Arrange and document weekly Project Controls meetings.
  • Deliver capital cost control, variance analysis, and reporting requirements supportive of effective system improvement management.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to update project management team members and stakeholders on cost status.
  • Track, log, and manage scope changes.
  • Apply Enbridge-sanctioned cost control processes consistently across project-related activities.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, the Finance department, and other stakeholders concerning cost-related responsibilities.
  • Capture relevant project information for benchmarking purposes.
  • Communicate and engage effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Identify and apply innovative solutions to project controls problems.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including documentation, files, and compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Collaborate with project management teams to provide updates and adapt strategies to meet project needs.
  • Ensure adherence to Enbridge-sanctioned cost processes in project management activities.

Qualifications:

  • Related university degree, previous field operations experience, or a combination of formal education and experience.
  • Thorough understanding of Distribution Operations procedures and policies.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Effective relationship-building capabilities with peers and internal/external customers.
  • Proficient in various computer software programs, particularly spreadsheets and word processing tools.
  • Project Management Professional designation, AACE certification, and/or Professional Engineering designation are considered assets.
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, financial systems, enterprise structure, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to manage workload effectively, prioritize tasks, and resolve issues timely.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, facilitating effective interaction with diverse stakeholders.
