Do you thrive in managing complex procurement processes, ensuring compliance, and serving as a strategic partner to large project teams? As a Project Buyer IV (electrical), you will lead end‑to‑end procurement activities, from competitive sourcing and RFX execution to negotiation and purchase order issuance. This position is critical to the success of the electrical program, supporting a major portfolio of capital projects. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead project sourcing for complex, long‑lead, high‑value electrical equipment and service contracts supporting a large capital expansion project.
- Assess and recommend early-market commitments to secure supplier capacity and meet project in‑service dates.
- Partner with SCM Business Partners, Category Managers, and Project Teams to develop materials and services sourcing strategies for highly technical requirements.
- Lead the full sourcing cycle including RFX development, proposal solicitation, bid evaluations, negotiation, and contract execution.
- Facilitate technical and commercial clarifications between suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to the development of risk‑mitigation strategies and ensure they are incorporated into procurement planning and execution.
- Plan, track, forecast, and communicate SCM activity updates for stakeholders.
- Collaborate with SCM Governance, Quality, Legal, and Expediting teams to ensure deliverables, quality standards, and timelines are met.
- Ensure full compliance with SCM policies, enterprise governance requirements, and contractual processes.
- Monitor supplier performance and relationship management with minimal supervision.
Qualifications:
Required:
- University degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (a combination of education and experience will be considered).
- Minimum 7 years of related procurement or Supply Chain Management experience.
- Proven experience procuring complex electrical equipment for large energy or capital projects.
- Demonstrated expertise in reviewing, marking up, and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with persuasive and influencing capabilities.
- Ability to explain deviations to standard T&Cs and develop alternative commercial positions.
- In‑depth knowledge of RFX development, contract preparation, and contract management.
- Experience managing supplier relationships and performance independently.
- Proficiency with ERP systems for PO creation—Oracle R12 or Oracle Cloud preferred.
Preferred:
- 10+ years of procurement experience in the power, electrical transmission, liquids, or natural gas energy industry.
- Postgraduate qualification or MBA.
- Supply chain certifications such as SCMP, CPSM, or equivalent.
- Experience with operational or design aspects of electrical systems, power equipment, or capital projects.
