About the Role:

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll lead and manage the electrical and controls design of expansion and maintenance capital projects. You'll oversee third-party engineering firms to ensure alignment with company and industry standards, as well as project budgets and schedules. You will collaborate with various functional groups within Project Execution, Operations, and Shared Services to ensure compliance with project and company requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and oversee high horsepower (10,000 to 30,000 HP) turbine and electrical motor-driven centrifugal compressor stations.
  • Develop and ensure compliance with electrical systems designs for various volt systems, including power panels, transformers, motor controls, switchgear, and grounding systems.
  • Implement control systems such as Allen-Bradley or equivalent PLC-based controls with a focus on motor control circuits and emergency shutdown systems.
  • Handle instrumentation tasks including management of smart and analog transmitters, pressure and temperature gauges, and flame and gas detector systems.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, and capital cost estimates, ensuring projects adhere to regulations, industry codes, and corporate standards.
  • Oversee third-party engineering deliverables, reviewing designs, technical reports, and material listings.
  • Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases, and incorporate lessons learned into future projects.
  • Lead and support departmental initiatives while providing technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Coordinate development project scope definitions ensuring compliance with regulatory, environmental, health, and safety requirements.

  • Responsible for the effective operation of assigned areas with significant corporate financial impact.
  • Oversees technical solutions, ensuring coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provides informal leadership and insight into peer operations.

Key Contacts:

  • Project Manager: Weekly updates on progress, cost, schedule, and risk.
  • Supervisor/Manager, Facilities Project Engineering: Regular interaction for project updates.
  • External Engineering Firm: Daily oversight of project design activities.
  • Operations: Weekly updates and design feature guidance.

Qualifications:

  • Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 7 years of experience in engineering and project management.
  • Preferred:
  • Professional Engineer designation.
  • Proven ability to innovate and manage change.
  • Strong independent working, project management, and prioritization skills.
  • Complex issue resolution using extensive technical and business knowledge.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical discussions with diverse stakeholders.

Working Conditions:

  • Based in an office environment with above-normal stress levels due to deadline-oriented, visible project work.
  • Occasional overnight field trips requiring personal protective equipment (PPE).
