Job Overview
The Mechanic III is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and safe operation of compressor station equipment and related mechanical systems. This role supports the reliability and efficiency of pipeline and station operations by ensuring all equipment operates safely, effectively, and in compliance with company procedures and regulatory standards.
The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, adaptable, and capable of working independently and collaboratively in a dynamic operational environment where each day may present new technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and operational support for compressor station systems and equipment
- Maintain and repair systems including air systems, air dryer systems, fuel systems, cooling systems, gas compression systems, prime movers, and related operational equipment
- Monitor equipment performance and recognize abnormal operating conditions to ensure safe and reliable operations
- Complete maintenance records, reports, and required documentation accurately and thoroughly
- Provide direction and support to other employees during maintenance activities as required
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, safety standards, and regulatory requirements including SOPs, O&M Manuals, PHMSA, and EPA regulations
- Participate actively in safety programs and maintain a strong commitment to Health, Safety, Security, and Environmental standards
- Collaborate effectively within a team-oriented work environment while maintaining positive working relationships
- Support pipeline and compressor station operations through preventive and corrective maintenance activities
- Respond to operational issues and emergency situations as required
- Perform all assigned duties in a safe, efficient, and professional manner
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 5 years of directly relevant training and mechanical maintenance experience
- Valid driver’s license required
- Strong troubleshooting, technical, and analytical skills
- Working knowledge of maintenance and repair operations related to pipelines and operational equipment
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency using computers and Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word
- Demonstrated commitment to safety, operational compliance, and teamwork
- Ability to work effectively in an inclusive and collaborative team environment
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve issues while adhering to established procedures
- Self-motivated with the willingness to take initiative and assume responsibility
- Desire to continue learning and advancing technical mechanical skills
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, shifts, standby rotations, and emergency call-outs as required
- Ability to travel occasionally, including overnight travel
- Must reside within 30 miles of the assigned reporting location or be willing to relocate
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in varying weather and environmental conditions
- Ability to safely perform physical activities including lifting, kneeling, reaching, standing, repetitive motion tasks, and working in high-noise environments
- Ability to understand and apply oral and written instructions, organize work priorities, complete reports and documentation, and communicate effectively with internal teams and stakeholders
- Availability for 24-hour emergency response support as required
