About the Role:
The Sourcing Specialist plays a critical role in supporting business objectives by developing and executing sourcing strategies for assigned commodity categories. Working closely with Sourcing Leaders and product segment teams, this role acts as the local owner for assigned commodities and is accountable for cost optimization, supplier performance, and contract management across the purchase family.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute local sourcing strategies that deliver competitive advantage and drive strategic supplier initiatives.
- Lead supplier selection, development, and consolidation to optimize overall sourcing performance.
- Drive sourcing execution for assigned commodities, maintaining full accountability for purchasing outcomes and achieving cost‑deflation targets.
- Perform detailed cost analysis of components and manufacturing processes to ensure high quality at the lowest total cost.
- Monitor supplier quality, delivery performance, and compliance; implement improvement strategies to meet business objectives.
- Identify cost‑saving opportunities, assess associated risks, and develop effective mitigation plans.
- Partner with internal stakeholders—including product, operations, technical SMEs, and legal teams—to ensure sourced materials and services align with business needs.
- Coordinate cross‑functional teams during strategic initiatives, escalations, or process improvements.
- Communicate commercial and contractual issues clearly and effectively to internal clients.
- Lead initiatives to improve sourcing processes, including managing escalations related to delivery issues, quality concerns, invoicing/payables discrepancies, and database management.
- Prioritize and manage multiple workflows, often under tight timelines and shifting priorities.
- Negotiate and influence internal and external stakeholders to drive optimal sourcing outcomes.
Qualifications:
Required:
- University degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in sourcing or supply chain management.
- Additional related experience may substitute for formal education.
- Strong oral, written, and presentation communication skills with proven influencing and negotiation abilities.
- Deep understanding of RFx development and execution, contract preparation, and contract management.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct objective analysis and make sound commercial decisions.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
Preferred:
- Enrollment in or completion of the Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), or equivalent professional designation.
- Previous experience in the gas utility or energy industry.
