Job Overview:
- This role is responsible for the oversight and execution of month‑end financial activities, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, for an assigned Business Unit or Central Function. The position ensures alignment with established financial targets and organizational expectations.
- The incumbent is accountable for monthly financial reporting to Senior Leadership, providing clear insights into Budgets, Forecasts, and Actuals, along with recommended mitigation strategies to achieve financial goals. The role also serves as a trusted financial advisor, supporting the O&M Manager, Supervisors, and leadership teams through informed analysis and sound financial counsel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and execute month‑end close activities, budgeting, forecasting, and comprehensive variance analysis for assigned Business Units.
- Manage and track Operations & Maintenance (O&M) costs, efficiency initiatives, and synergies to ensure alignment with financial targets.
- Prepare and present monthly financial reporting to Vice Presidents and Senior Leadership, including actionable insights and mitigation strategies.
- Serve as the Finance Lead for a designated Vice President or Director group, providing timely financial interpretation and performance analysis to support strategic and operational decisions.
- Provide ongoing financial counsel and support to O&M Managers, Supervisors, and SVP Leads, enabling data‑driven decision‑making.
- Build strong working relationships with operational teams, particularly those responsible for financial inputs and forecasts, to understand, validate, and improve underlying processes.
- Develop in‑depth knowledge of assigned business areas by attending department meetings and maintaining proactive client engagement.
- Support periodic forecasting cycles, annual budgeting processes, and long‑range financial planning activities.
- Recommend and implement streamlined, standardized analytical approaches across operating groups to improve consistency and insight.
- Identify interdependencies impacting financial outcomes across Gas Distribution & Storage (GDS) and address them proactively.
- Deliver ad hoc and off‑cycle financial analysis as requested, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and timeliness.
- Ensure financial reporting and tracking comply with the regulatory framework.
- Support SOX controls, internal controls, and audit requirements.
- Assist in identifying, assessing, mitigating, and managing financial and operational risk exposures.
- Promote awareness and understanding of Company policies and changes across GDS.
- Support initiatives to enhance finance processes and systems within GDS Finance.
- Participate in and support additional initiatives and duties as required to meet evolving business needs.
Scope/Dimensions:
- Manage departmental operating budgets, including oversight of total O&M budgets.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, governance standards, and SOX requirements.
- Lead or contribute to process improvement and system enhancement initiatives to increase efficiency and effectiveness within GDS Finance.
- Develop and recommend strategies to meet financial targets, including cost‑efficiency measures and, where applicable, revenue‑enhancing opportunities.

- Vice Presidents, Directors, Managers, and operating teams across EGI Gas Distribution & Storage (GDS) and Enbridge Inc.
- Internal Audit, Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Tax, Regulatory, IT, and HR teams.
- External auditors (PwC), contractors, and consultants.
Qualification:
Required:
- University degree in Business, Finance, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years of post‑qualification experience in business performance analytics or financial management roles.
- Strong analytical and financial modeling skills, with the ability to communicate insights clearly to stakeholders and budget owners.
- Proficient working knowledge of SAP, Oracle, and Power BI (preferred).
- Strong business acumen, including understanding of regulatory environments and financial reporting requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and work independently.
- Proven collaborator with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience prioritizing work and implementing process improvements to optimize workflows.
- Experience within a regulated environment is preferred.

Preferred
- Professional finance designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) or MBA.
