Job Overview:

The DSS Acceleration Lead supports GDS Data & Systems Strategy initiatives by coordinating, analyzing, and documenting efforts to enhance governance, records management, process transparency, and the prioritization of business cases. This role collaborates with business and IT stakeholders to gather requirements, map end-to-end processes, create action plans and reports, and prepare summaries for governance. The position also organizes cross-functional activities to improve how data and records are managed and applied to business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support setup and ongoing operation of a cross-functional data governance group, focusing on charter, roles, cadence, and decision tracking.
  • Build a prioritized action plan for records improvements and prepare execution-ready work items, including requirements and measures of success.
  • Create end-to-end process views and draft supporting business case content for investments and improvements.
  • Help organize and summarize LDC business cases for review and prioritization.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary certificate/diploma or university degree in Business, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data/Analytics, Engineering, or related fields.
  • 0-4+ years of experience in supporting or delivering data, systems, process improvement, or large application work in a business setting. Advanced degree (MBA/MSc) or relevant certifications (e.g., PMP, CBAP, CDMP) are preferred.

Core Skills (Must-have):

  • Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills, effective collaboration with business leaders, SMEs, and IT.
  • Working knowledge of data governance, including ownership/roles, standards, data quality, and issue management.
  • Experience in mapping end-to-end processes and identifying system/data handoffs and integration points.
  • Experience preparing business cases and decision-ready summaries for governance and leadership reviews.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics into practical actions.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel (Power Query) and Power BI; comfortable working with data and reporting.

Additional Skills (Nice-to-have):

  • Exposure to records/information management, including records controls, retention, classification, and audit readiness.
  • Ability to identify and support opportunities to use GenAI / AI/ML to enhance analysis, data quality, and the adoption of self-service insights across GDS.
  • Skills in change management, negotiation, and presenting and documenting information.
  • Familiarity with cloud/data platforms and enterprise portfolio tools, such as Copperleaf.
