About the Role: 

Our client is seeking a skilled and visually savvy Communications Specialist II to join their USUI integration team. This role is perfect for a communications professional who excels at transforming technical information into clear, engaging presentations and visual content. You will support both internal and external communications efforts, focusing on developing high-impact materials that inform, educate, and inspire stakeholders across the service area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communication Development: Assist in creating internal and external communications that educate and inform on changes impacting the organization and its customers.
  • Program Communication Materials: Develop key materials such as FAQs, talking points, roadmaps, articles, and metrics dashboards to support leadership and stakeholder communications.
  • Metrics & Reporting: Track communication effectiveness through metrics like reach, open rates, and sentiment analysis, and prepare leadership updates on readiness, adoption, and risks.
  • Change Management Experience: Support stakeholders and showcase integration progress with visual tools like heatmaps.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Design and deliver polished presentations for executive briefings, community meetings, and internal communications.
  • Translate complex utility data and operations updates into visually compelling formats.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy and clarity of content.
  • Create infographics, slide decks, and visual assets using tools such as PowerPoint, Adobe Illustrator, Canva, or similar platforms.
  • Maintain brand consistency across all visual materials.
  • Support video production and editing for internal and external use.
  • Draft and edit content for newsletters, employee updates, and customer communications.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts and technical staff to gather information and craft clear communications.
  • Manage timelines and deliverables for communication projects.
  • Maintain organized documentation and version control for all visual and written assets.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Graphic Design, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in communications, preferably in utilities or public service.
  • Advanced proficiency in presentation software (PowerPoint, Google Slides, Prezi) and design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
  • Strong visual storytelling skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience adhering to brand guidelines and communication style guides.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and is able to hit the ground running.

Preferred:

  • Strong presentation development and visual storytelling skills.
