Job Overview
The Project Scheduler is responsible for developing, detailing, expanding, and maintaining project schedules for one or more assigned Major Projects within the client’s portfolio. This role works closely with project teams and stakeholders to ensure accurate planning, resource allocation, performance tracking, and critical-path management throughout the project lifecycle. The Project Scheduler provides expert guidance on scheduling, logistics, and planning to support successful execution of complex capital projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and manage detailed project schedules in collaboration with project stakeholders
- Adhere to enterprise scheduling standards, ensuring Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and other scheduling protocols are current and applied consistently
- Update and refine schedules as projects progress through development and execution stages, incorporating earned-value data and construction tracking inputs
- Interpret schedule performance, identify risks or variances, and communicate impacts to the Project Manager
- Ensure resource requirements are incorporated in schedules and continuously monitored throughout the project lifecycle
- Develop and manage schedule performance indicators to measure progress and project health
- Provide technical guidance and “what-if” schedule scenarios to evaluate options and critical path alternatives
- Represent the department in coordinating internal and external project activities with clients, partners, consultants, and other stakeholders
- Provide technical and business advice on project documentation, including reports, schedule updates, and completion requirements
- Interface with stakeholders to collect information needed for accurate and timely critical-path management
- Deliver required reports and cost data in a timely manner to support project planning and execution
Working Conditions
- Primarily office-based environment
- Occasional overnight business or construction field trips may be required
- Periodic travel to field worksites; use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be necessary
- Ability to meet deadlines and produce required reports and cost data in a timely manner
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related technical discipline
- 10+ years of experience with Engineering and Construction capital projects; pipeline industry experience preferred
- Expert-level proficiency in Primavera P6
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with project teams and stakeholders
- Ability to act independently as a senior logistics/scheduling professional
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize workload in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve issues proactively and effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, EcoSys, Oracle Cloud, and Power BI
