Job Overview
The Energy Efficiency Engineer works closely with large manufacturing clients to identify and implement opportunities that improve natural gas efficiency within industrial facilities. This role combines technical analysis, relationship management, and strategic problem-solving to uncover and deliver energy savings projects. The position involves collaborating with engineering team members, conducting site visits, building technical analyses, and guiding clients toward practical and cost-effective energy solutions. The role requires balancing multiple priorities, developing trusted client relationships, and contributing to the long-term growth of the client’s industrial energy efficiency initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and establish relationships with key contacts at large manufacturing facilities to arrange and coordinate site visits
- Participate in joint site visits with team members to identify and evaluate potential energy efficiency opportunities
- Support the identification, analysis, and quantification of energy savings projects within industrial operations
- Develop and build technical savings calculations, including creating new analytical models when necessary to justify project implementation
- Analyze complex industrial processes and operations to identify practical and cost-effective energy solutions
- Communicate technical findings and project benefits clearly to both technical and business stakeholders to secure project buy-in
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while consistently delivering against established annual savings targets
- Build and maintain long-term professional relationships with clients based on trust, collaboration, and reliability
- Continuously identify new opportunities for energy efficiency improvements to support both short-term results and long-term pipeline development
- Contribute to the management of a small group of client accounts while supporting broader team objectives and collaborative initiatives
- Work independently while actively collaborating with cross-functional team members to achieve shared goals
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; Chemical or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Professional engineering designation or membership in a recognized professional engineering organization preferred
- Strong ability to lead and influence stakeholders without direct authority
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving capabilities, particularly in complex industrial environments
- Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
- Comfortable working both independently and within a collaborative team environment
- Valid driver’s license with a responsible driving record
Working Conditions
- Role includes a combination of office-based work (approximately 50%) and field-based work (approximately 50%)
- Travel required primarily within the region, including occasional overnight travel
- Hybrid work schedule with in-office work on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and remote work on Wednesday and Friday
