** The primary pay rate is based on T4 classification; however, we will also consider applications from candidates interested in an INC classification, where applicable. 

About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Senior Accountant to join our Cost of Gas team. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical accounting and the ability to work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare month-end closing journal entries to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Conduct monthly account reconciliations and balance sheet analysis.
  • Compile quarterly RRR schedules.
  • Assist in maintaining, updating, and documenting internal control policies and procedures within the Finance Department.
  • Ensure adherence to key and non-key SOX controls related to Gas Cost.
  • Collaborate with internal, external, and SOX auditors during reviews and quarterly/annual audit engagements.
  • Support various regulatory proceedings, including the annual Earning Sharing Mechanism application, Federal Carbon-related proceedings, and the rebasing application. This includes evidence preparation, drafting interrogatory responses, supporting deferral dispositions, and handling ad-hoc regulatory requests.

Scope:

  • This role is essential to the Cost of Gas team, responsible for preparing several key month-end journal entries.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

Required:

  • University Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of technical accounting and analytical experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight reporting deadlines, including some overtime.
  • Team player with a results-oriented mindset and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively with a remote team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel.

Preferred:

  • Experience and knowledge of SAP, Oracle, and EPBCS.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance.
  • Experience in an industry or regulated environment.
