Job Overview:

  • The Contract Drafter supports Engineering and Operations teams by producing, updating, and maintaining accurate technical drawings for pipeline and facility assets. This role requires strong cross-disciplinary drafting experience within the oil and gas industry, along with the ability to interpret field data and translate project inputs into compliant design documentation.
  • The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and experienced in working with Enbridge's established drafting standards and drawing management systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, update, and maintain engineering drawings across multiple disciplines, including:
  • Mechanical
  • Piping
  • Electrical
  • Instrumentation
  • Translate engineering concepts, project deliverables, and field redlines into accurate CAD drawings
  • Review and incorporate site markups, photographs, and as-built data into final drawing packages
  • Ensure all drawings comply with internal drafting standards (DS 001, DS 002, DS 003) and industry best practices
  • Support preparation and delivery of:
  • Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings
  • As-Built drawing packages
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, field teams, and external vendors to ensure consistency and alignment
  • Maintain drawing control processes, including revision tracking and documentation management throughout the project lifecycle
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, high-volume environment

Scope/Dimensions:

  • Work across a wide range of drawing types supporting pipeline and facility projects
  • Interface with both internal stakeholders and external contractors to deliver high-quality, consistent outputs
  • Apply independent judgment to interpret incomplete or evolving data and resolve discrepancies
  • Contribute directly to:
  • Process Safety Information (PSI) accuracy
  • Overall project execution quality

Contacts/Working Relationships:

  • Engineering Drawings team (daily coordination and delivery alignment)
  • Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance teams (clarification of design intent and field conditions)
  • Asset Information Management, PSI, and Engineering Records (standards compliance and data integrity)
  • External EPCs, vendors, and drafting service providers (project execution and deliverables)

Qualification:

Required:

  • Minimum 5+ years of drafting experience in the oil and gas industry
  • Proven experience working across multiple engineering disciplines:
  • Mechanical
  • Piping
  • Electrical
  • Instrumentation
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Experience developing and maintaining:
  • P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams)
  • Plot plans
  • Facility layouts
  • Equipment drawings
  • Ability to interpret:
  • Field redlines
  • Site photographs
  • Engineering/project documentation
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work independently in a contract-based, remote, or distributed team environment

Preferred:

  • Experience working with Enbridge's drawing management systems and standards (e.g., LPDMS)
  • Familiarity with pipeline and facility operations
  • Knowledge of:
  • Instrumentation systems
  • Control systems
  • Tagging conventions
