About the Role:
The Specialist in Engineering Project Management will oversee major capital projects with a focus on pipeline and compressor station execution. Will be responsible for managing project costs, schedules, and performance objectives, ensuring the successful expansion and maintenance of our plant, process, and pipeline networks. Manage complex projects with budgets exceeding $100 million annually, typically spanning over two years. These projects involve intricate FERC regulatory processes and federal agency permitting. You will integrate all functional groups into a cohesive project team, ensuring the overall success of assigned projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Integrate all functional groups into an overall project team and ensure project success.
- Facilitate the preparation of project execution plans by appropriate functional groups.
- Develop various project execution scenarios to support business objectives.
- Prepare resource plans for each project.
- Identify project risks, mitigation measures, exposures, and opportunities.
- Champion company values and adhere to the Six Phase Project Life Cycle control process.
- Manage scope, cost, schedule, and performance objectives for capital projects.
- Develop and maintain the Project Risk Register for each assigned project.
- Facilitate communication channels and issue reports reflecting project status and health.
- Serve as the focal point for project and service activities for internal and external customers.
- Interact with outside agencies for project development, implementation, and completion.
- Develop, negotiate, and approve various agreements related to project execution.
- Prepare "Lessons Learned" after project completion.
- Develop and disseminate project budgets, ensuring execution within budget and change management processes.
- Provide leadership in formulating strategies and making decisions regarding project execution.
- Serve as the main contact for internal and external customers, preparing project proposals and keeping customers informed.
Scope/Dimensions:
- Accountable for overall project cost, schedule, and performance objectives for expanding and maintaining plant, process, and pipeline networks.
- Manage projects with budgets exceeding $100 million annually, typically over two years in duration.
- Handle projects of extreme complexity involving FERC regulatory processes and federal agency permitting.
Contacts (Working Relationships):
- Reports to the Manager of Projects and provides reports and presentations to the Director of Projects and VP of Major Projects.
- Frequent interaction with internal functional groups such as Safety, ROW, Environmental Permitting, Government Affairs, and more.
- Engage with external parties impacted by the project, including local municipalities, State and Federal agencies, and individual landowners.
Reporting Relationships:
- Indirect Reports: Up to 10 Engineering/Technical and Non-technical staff from supporting functional groups
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline preferred with a minimum of ten years of diversified project experience in the energy industry.
- Experience as a Project Manager responsible for all project functions from inception to closeout.
- Project experience with the FERC process preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Predominantly an office environment with significant travel required during key project phases (Permitting, Construction).
- Frequent travel to project locations during construction.
