Your Role
We’re looking for a dynamic and experienced Production Supervisor to lead a high-performing team at our Christchurch manufacturing plant. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for executing daily production plans, driving quality, and fostering a safe and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of 10 in the production area
- Ensure daily production schedules and output targets are met
- Champion quality standards and drive quality improvement
- Promote cross-functional training and team development
- Collaborate with Warehouse, Procurement, Customer Service, and Logistics teams
- Uphold safety standards, participate in safety audits, and HOP sessions
- Active people management: performance, leave, absenteeism, behavioural issues, and training
- Oversee day-to-day operations, resource planning, and scheduling
- Accountability for site production, including non-conformance, change management, and continuous improvement
- Ensure quality standards and compliance
- Provide hands-on operational support (approx. 40% shop floor, 60% admin)
- Develop and update SOPs and documentation

Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in production leadership within a complex operational environment
- Strong planning, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and quality standards
- High proficiency in Microsoft 365, especially Excel (pivot tables, filtering, formulas) and Word (document formatting) - this is essential and will be tested during the interview process
- Effective communication and conflict resolution abilities
- Tertiary qualification or extensive experience in manufacturing
- Ability to train others and develop clear instructions
- Experience working with unions is beneficial
- Demonstrated success in achieving productivity and quality goals
- Experience in garage door or construction industries is a plus
