About Us

For over a century, our Paints & Coatings brands have helped shape the homes, buildings, and infrastructure that define Australia and New Zealand. From protecting iconic landmarks to adding colour to everyday spaces, our work makes a lasting impact.

Proudly part of the DuluxGroup and home to some of the region’s most trusted and beloved brands including Dulux, Berger, Acratex, British Paints, and Porter’s Paints - you’ll be joining a team of passionate people globally who are proud to create, innovate, and lead.

We’re consistently recognised as one of ANZ’s most trusted brands, and we’re committed to building better futures - for our customers, our communities, and our people.

What You’ll Be Doing

This is a pure new‑business, growth‑focused Business Development Manager role for someone who thrives on creating momentum where little currently exists.

Based in Christchurch, you’ll be responsible for rebuilding and expanding market presence. Success in this role will come from energy, persistence and time in the field—knocking on doors, starting conversations and building influence with the people who shape buying decisions in construction.

This is not an account management role.

This is a traditional, high‑activity business development role for someone who genuinely enjoys prospecting, relationship‑building and winning trust from scratch.

Responsibilities

  • Win new business by prospecting builders, painters and high‑growth trade segments
  • Spend most of your time in the field door‑knocking and starting new relationships
  • Build upstream influence with builders and key decision‑makers
  • Create and manage a strong new‑business pipeline using CRM and sales tools

Our Benefits

  • Let us support you with Life, total permanent disability and Health Insurance
  • Exclusive discounts on DuluxGroup products and partner offers
  • We will match up to 4% of your salary to Kiwisaver
  • 20 weeks paid parental leave (primary carers) and 2 weeks partner leave
  • Market leading learning, development and career pathways
  • Access to our Wellbeing Hub and full EAP support
  • Recognition programs that celebrate your impact

What we're looking for

  • Sales or business development experience, ideally in construction, trade or adjacent sectors
  • High‑energy, resilient self‑starter who enjoys prospecting and rejection
  • Confident communicator able to engage builders, trades and business owners
  • Commercially curious and motivated by performance‑based earnings
  • Digitally capable, with disciplined use of CRM and sales tools

We’re open to candidates without formal sales experience who are naturally commercial, passionate about winning business, and keen to build a career in sales—this could suit a trade professional ready for a new direction!
