About the role 

As a Consumer Advice Horticulturist Consultant, you will join a vibrant and nurturing team at our Padstow office and be committed to delivering exceptional service and gardening advice to our Yates consumers from hardware, grocery and garden centres through a range of phone and digital communication channels.

This is an opportunity with real variety. Day to day you’ll be on phone, emails, live chat (real-time online chats) as well as social media and online forums working to guide and answer diverse horticultural and technical queries from our consumers, customers and staff. Your confident approach and flexible nature will ensure the best possible service is provided as you offer inspiration to budding gardeners and counsel them through any issues they may have in the garden or with our products. 

We want you to live the joy of the garden and show consumers how they can grow so much more than a garden by providing them with handy hints, tips and recommendations on our various Yates products. 

This is a real consumer-focused role so to succeed you’ll need to have an excellent phone manner and the confidence to deal with challenging situations with ease. You’ll be joining a small, close-knit team so a positive approach to teamwork is a must – you’ll be someone who gets stuck in with whatever is needed to get the job done.

Responsibilities 

  • Respond to consumer and customer product enquiries in a timely manner
  • Research any complex queries, problem solve and provide resolutions
  • Record enquiry details, log and investigate product issues, and provide marketing feedback
  • Handle any product complaints and provide consumers with a positive customer experience
  • Availability to work weekends (ad hoc basis), as required

Skills & Experience 

  • Knowledge and passion for the horticulture industry is essential
  • A tertiary qualification in horticulture (either completed or in progress)
  • Experience within a retail nursery environment is advantageous
  • Strong customer service and sales experience
  • Intermediate computer skills
