Your main responsibilities:
- Assist with food preparation and cooking tasks across multiple kitchen sections.
- Support senior chefs during event pre-production, service and pack-down.
- Prepare ingredients to specification, including bulk prep for large-scale events.
- Plating and presentation to ensure consistency and quality during service.
- Follow recipes, portion controls and event timelines accurately.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness at all times.
- Assist with stock rotation, labelling and storage in line with food safety standards.
- Set up and break down kitchen stations for on-site and off-site events.
- Take direction from senior chefs and demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop skills.
Your attributes:
- Eagerness to learn and further develop culinary skills under the guidance of senior chefs.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Calm and composed under pressure, particularly during large-scale or time-sensitive service
- Strong work ethic with reliability and punctuality.
Your experience:
- Proven experience as a Commis/Demi Chef is essential.
- Previous experience working within events, catering or banqueting kitchens is an advantage.
- Strong organisational skills with experience in pre-production, bulk preparation and event execution.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and presentation across relevant sections.
- Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene and HACCP standards.
- Experience with stock control, ordering and minimising food waste.
