Discovery Resorts – Lake Argyle

Located in Western Australia’s remote East Kimberley region, approximately one hour from Kununurra, Discovery Resorts Lake Argyle offers the opportunity to live and work in one of Australia’s most remarkable tourism destinations.

The property is a large and complex operation encompassing accommodation, housekeeping, tours, cliffside dining and an onsite microbrewery, with strong seasonal demand adding further variety to the operation.

For an experienced Operations Manager, this is an opportunity to play a key leadership role within a unique destination property and help bring together its people, processes and day-to-day operations.

About the Role

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced hospitality, accommodation or tourism leader to take a key role in the day-to-day management of a large and diverse resort.

As Operations Manager, you will bring together people, departments and priorities to ensure the property runs smoothly, standards remain high and the team is well supported to deliver a great guest experience.

Highly organised and process-driven, you will provide structure and consistency while maintaining a strong focus on workplace health and safety, compliance and Discovery Way standards.

This role will suit a visible and hands-on leader who builds strong relationships, follows through on priorities and takes ownership of getting things done.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Oversee day-to-day operational delivery across the resort.
  • Provide leadership and support across accommodation, housekeeping, tours, dining and other operational areas.
  • Build strong communication and collaboration between departments.
  • Lead, support and develop the team across a busy and highly seasonal operation.
  • Coordinate workforce requirements and operational priorities across peak and quieter periods.
  • Maintain high presentation, service and operational standards throughout the property.
  • Oversee workplace health and safety, operational compliance and Discovery Way standards.
  • Establish and maintain effective routines, processes and operational structure.
  • Manage operational challenges and guest issues calmly and professionally.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency and the overall guest experience.
  • Provide visible, hands-on leadership and step into the operation where required.

About You

You are a confident, practical and solutions-focused operational leader who enjoys being at the centre of a busy tourism environment.

Highly organised and attentive to detail, you are comfortable managing multiple priorities and know how to bring structure and consistency to an operation without losing sight of your people or the guest experience.

You are collaborative in your approach, comfortable getting hands-on when required and bring the adaptability and resilience needed to live and work successfully in a remote destination.

Skills and Experience Include

  • Previous operational leadership experience within hospitality, accommodation, tourism or a similarly complex environment.
  • Strong experience leading and developing teams within a customer-focused operation.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple operational departments and competing priorities.
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience working within seasonal operations and changing workforce requirements.
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety, compliance and operational standards.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage operational challenges calmly.
  • A collaborative and hands-on approach to leadership.
  • Ability to successfully live and work within a remote onsite environment.
