The role

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and proactive person to join the Concrete and Aggregates team at our Birkenhead site. As a Laboratory Technician, this role offers you to chance to build and develop laboratory skills and gain further exposure to the compliance testing of our concrete and aggregates products. Your primary duties will include a broad range of both in the field and Laboratory based work, including sampling concrete on job sites, sample preparation, testing of concrete and aggregates, equipment calibration, computer-based data entry and results analysis.

Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, this is a permanent full-time position.

A company vehicle and mobile will be provided to the successful candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Sample and test concrete and other construction materials in the field and lab
  • Carry out testing in line with Australian Standards
  • Adhering to safe work instructions
  • Adhere to procedures and work systems
  • Ensure Laboratory NATA requirements are maintained
  • Perform equipment calibration and basic maintenance
  • Assist the technical team to ensure customer requirements are met

What you will need to succeed

  • Desire to start a new career or continue in the construction material testing industry
  • Australian Drivers License
  • Desirable but not essential Construction industry white card
  • Desirable but not essential Certificate III in Laboratory Techniques
  • Self-motivated person, with a strong work ethic and initiative
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking skills
  • Proven ability to work both autonomously and within a team
  • Desirable but not essential Computer and literacy skills - training can be provided
  • Strong commitment to quality and safety
