The role

We are currently looking for a Technical Manager to provide technical expertise to our concrete and quarry operations in South Australia and Northern Territory. Located at our Thebarton office in South Australia, this full-time permanent opportunity will report to the General Manager SA&NT and will receive a competitive remuneration along with a fully maintained company vehicle.

As our Technical Manager, you will be responsible for managing the overall quality and technical risks of the South Australian & Northern Territory business for both Concrete and Quarry operations. You will be responsible for ensuring our product quality remains competitive, consistent and compliant with the requirements of our group Adbri Quality system. This is done by maintaining a value adding quality management system, reviewing specifications, analysing test data and optimising and maintaining mix designs that ensure compliance to relevant standards.

In addition, you will ensure that product specifications are met whilst controlling costs through optimisation involving regular analysis of raw materials, plant capabilities, delivery processes and final product testing.

Responsibilities

  • Promote safety and sustainability within the team
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives optimisation of mix costs
  • Oversee the management of a NATA endorsed concrete and aggregate Laboratory
  • Control quality of product and investigate customer complaints and quality issues
  • Manage the risk that the business is exposed to from a technical perspective
  • Review project specifications ensuring compliant product is supplied
  • Manage product quality and compliance to specifications and standards
  • Provide technical assistance, education and advice within the Adbri business and to clients
  • Oversee development of concrete mixes and quarry product range
  • Maintain quality compliance to ISO9001 for the manufacture of concrete and quarry products

What you will need to succeed

  • Previous experience in a similar role, with exposure in the construction materials industry, tertiary qualifications in engineering or science being an advantage
  • Analytical with the ability to present complex analyses as useable management information
  • Commercially astute with the ability to recognise, raise and manage the financial and contractual impacts of product-related decisions and issues
  • Experience interacting with clients and suppliers to develop and drive budgeted strategic outcomes.
  • Collaborative and Innovative
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • People management experience essential
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Competent in Command software (for concrete production).
  • Basic knowledge of SAP
