About Oral Health Victoria:
Oral Health Victoria (formerly Dental Health Services Victoria) is the leading public oral health agency in Victoria. We aim to improve the oral health of all Victorians, particularly vulnerable groups, and those most in need. OHV is funded by the State Government to provide clinical dental services to eligible Victorians. About the role:
This is a unique opportunity to expand your skills as a dental assistant across several departments, including Primary Care, the Emergency Department, and Dental Teaching Clinic. You’ll receive continuous guidance and support from our amazing Team Leader in Primary Care, whose leadership and mentorship will help you navigate complex situations and ensure your development as a dental assistant. This mentorship will be invaluable in helping you achieve your full potential in the field.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Clinical Chair-side assisting with a Dentist or Specialist in the ward or in surgery.
- Providing oral health education and promotion to our patients.
- Preparing, maintaining, and managing the clinical environment, including equipment, materials, and instruments, in line with the treatment plan, to enhance efficient patient care.
About you:
- Well-developed communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and take initiative.
- Ideally, 12+ months of experience working chair-side assisting. However, if you have the right attitude to learn this is not essential and will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
- Certificate III in Dental Assisting or Certificate in Dental Nursing (Please note: Overseas trained dentists must have a qualification in Dental Assisting from an Australian RTO).
