The Opportunity:
We are seeking two Product Engineers to join our Product Engineering team and contribute to the development of innovative Defence and National Security capabilities.
In these roles, you will design, build, test and enhance software products and technical solutions that support DEWC's mission to deliver advanced C4ISREW capabilities. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will help transform ideas into deployable products, participate in experimentation and prototyping activities, and contribute to the delivery of secure, reliable and high quality engineering outcomes.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on challenging technical problems, collaborate with experienced engineers and develop your skills across modern software engineering, product development and DevSecOps practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test and support product software and technical capabilities in line with product roadmaps and experimentation objectives.
- Contribute to technical design discussions and architectural decisions within the product engineering team.
- Deliver secure, high-quality products while balancing functionality, reliability, maintainability and delivery timelines.
- Participate in product experimentation, prototyping and capability development activities to evaluate and mature new concepts.
- Apply modern engineering practices including version control, testing, CI/CD and secure development methodologies.
- Work within established DevSecOps practices and contribute to product quality, security, compliance and governance requirements.
- Collaborate with engineers, product stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams to deliver effective technical solutions.
- Support the continuous improvement of engineering tools, platforms, automation and development processes.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, technical discussions and a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Maintain awareness of emerging technologies and engineering approaches relevant to Defence and National Security capability development.
About You:
- Demonstrated experience in software engineering, systems engineering or product engineering, delivering quality technical products to schedule.
- Sound understanding of modern engineering practices, including version control, testing frameworks, CI/CD pipelines and secure software development.
- Experience contributing to the design, development and delivery of software or technical solutions within a collaborative team environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to approach technical challenges in a structured and logical manner.
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams and build positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and a commitment to working in accordance with DEWC's values.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate technical information.
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Science, ICT or Management from a recognised tertiary institution.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, professional development and technical growth.
