Job Description

DEWC Services is seeking a dedicated Assistant Accountant to join our dynamic team, contributing to our day-to-day accounting functions, and supporting our Finance Manager in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Whilst the level of responsibilities will be tailored to the level of experience of the successful candidate, you will play a crucial role in various activities including month-end close, accounts payable and receivable processing, bank reconciliations, statutory lodgments, budget preparation, and more.

More specifically, you will:

  • Collaborate closely with the Finance Manager on month-end close activities, analysis, reporting, and perform general ledger entries and reconciliations.
  • Process accounts payable and receivable, monitor transactions, and resolve any issues.
  • Prepare and process bank reconciliations and statutory lodgments including Workcover, Payroll Tax, and Business Activity Statements (BAS).
  • Assist in accruals, pre-payments, and journal entries.
  • Support budget preparation and reporting processes.
  • Conduct monthly quality assurance activities to identify and resolve anomalies.
  • Execute general ledger entries and reconciliations.
  • Assist with payroll functions as needed.
  • Support audits, reviews, and compliance assessments.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as directed by management.

About You

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, or related (essential).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar position (essential)
  • Experience in finance management tools and relevant software (essential).
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office with intermediate skills in Excel
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and produce actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders.
  • A positive attitude and proactive work ethic with strong initiative and ownership.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct (desirable)
