The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Platform Engineer & IT Administrator to join our growing team and play a critical role in maintaining the secure, reliable and high performing technology environment that underpins DEWC's operations and engineering capability.

In this role, you will build, maintain and support the platforms, infrastructure and corporate ICT systems that enable our engineering teams to deliver innovative solutions across the Defence and National Security sectors. You will work across both Platform Engineering and IT Administration functions, ensuring our production environments, cloud platforms, DevSecOps tooling and corporate systems remain secure, available and fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities:

Platform Engineering

  • Build, configure and maintain production environments, infrastructure and cloud platforms that support engineering and operational capability delivery.
  • Develop, manage and continually improve CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps tooling to enable secure and reliable software delivery.
  • Support engineering teams with platform configuration, deployment processes, environment management and technical troubleshooting.
  • Monitor platform performance, availability and reliability, implementing improvements where required.
  • Support infrastructure automation and system standardisation to improve operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to platform security, resilience and compliance activities across cloud and on-premises environments.

IT Administration

  • Administer DEWC's corporate ICT environment, including Microsoft 365, identity and access management services, and business critical SaaS applications.
  • Provide responsive end user support and troubleshooting across hardware, software and business systems.
  • Maintain day to day IT operations to ensure a secure, reliable and productive working environment for all staff.
  • Manage patching, backups, monitoring and system maintenance activities in accordance with cyber security best practices.
  • Support software licensing, asset management and SaaS vendor relationships.
  • Assist with onboarding, offboarding and user account administration processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across corporate ICT and platform services.

About You:

  • Experience administering Windows based enterprise environments and corporate IT systems.
  • Experience supporting cloud platforms and infrastructure services, preferably within Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 ecosystems.
  • Knowledge of identity and access management technologies, including Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) and role based access controls.
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, automation tools and DevSecOps practices.
  • Understanding of infrastructure, networking, system administration and platform operations.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, backup, patch management and cyber security best practices.
  • Experience supporting SaaS applications and software license administration.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a customer focused approach to IT support.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with scripting and automation technologies such as PowerShell, Python or similar (desirable).
  • Exposure to Defence, government or highly regulated environments (desirable).
