About the opportunity

We’re pleased to invite applications from experienced Payroll Managers for the newly created position of Payroll & Employee Services Manager as part of our growing People and Culture (P&C) team in Adelaide SA.

Based in Hindmarsh, SA and reporting to the Group General Manager, People & Culture, you’ll lead end to end payroll services and the suite of transactional HR tasks across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, and Malaysia.

You’ll ensure that best-in-class service is provided to internal customers through accurate and timely processing of payroll and HR administration/employee services tasks.

You’ll be responsible for the compliance and governance of payroll and HR activities in accordance with legislative requirements across the jurisdictions in your remit.

You have a deep understanding of how payroll and HR processes and documentation fit together; to implement an effective service level agreement, and for your team to be successful, you can identify the needs of a business and align with the needs of your team. 

Your strong continuous improvement focus will enable you to streamline and innovate to improve the employee experience and add value to the business. 

In terms of specific responsibilities, you will:

  • Lead the payroll and HR administration team of 7 to ensure all employee changes and pay runs are processed and paid accurately and on time.
  • Ensure your team has an internal customer focus and works collaboratively with the wider business as a service provider. 
  • Ensure all legal payment remittances and reporting requirements are compliant with relevant legislation and Fair Work.
  • Manage the payroll team to ensure integrity of the administration of payroll software and the time and attendance database.
  • Coach, lead, and develop the payroll and administration team to adopt a “one business, one culture mindset.”
  • Maintain currency with all industrial and employment legislative requirements and ensure employment contracts and associated documentation is current and compliant.

About you 

What you’ll need:

  • Extensive experience in a similar role, managing a large and complex payroll. (Weekly, monthly, varying shifts and time and attendance requirements.)
  • Experience leading the transactional administration aspects that cross over with payroll and vice versa.
  • An in-depth knowledge of all industrial and employment legislative requirements.
  • A strong governance and compliance focus.
  • Proven success in leading and developing small teams and fostering accountability.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing and/or improving payroll and HR systems. 
  • A working knowledge of the underpinning people data and reporting requirements.
  • A collaborative approach and a willingness to work across teams and functions. 
  • Tech savvy with experience in process automation and digitalisation.
  • A tertiary qualification in finance, business, or another relevant discipline.

While not essential, holding a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) accreditation will be highly regarded.
