Shape the future of safety at Detmold Group.

Are you passionate about building a proactive safety culture that drives real business performance? Do you thrive in environments where innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement are valued? If so, we invite you to join our team as a Health and Safety Lead.

About the Role

As our Health and Safety Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in evolving and enhancing our WHS and Injury Management frameworks across Australia and New Zealand. This is a strategic position focused on developing systems, tools, and processes that not only meet compliance requirements but also foster a culture of safety ownership and behavioural excellence.

You’ll work closely with stakeholders across the business—from Operations to People & Culture—to embed safety into everything we do. This role is part of our Group Health and Safety team and is central to supporting our self-insurance license in South Australia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of contemporary WHS and IM systems that drive positive safety behaviours.
  • Build governance frameworks aligned with corporate responsibility and future compliance needs.
  • Define standards for hazard and risk management, especially for complex, high-risk issues.
  • Collaborate across teams to mature our safety culture and improve workplace performance.
  • Coach and mentor leaders to build H&S capability and embed safety leadership.
  • Lead injury management, Workcover, and self-insurance compliance requirements.
  • Deliver robust assurance and reporting to meet due diligence obligations.

What You’ll Bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in WHS or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior WHS/IM systems role specialising in self-insurance.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  • Experience with behavioural-based safety and critical risk/control programs.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of H&S legislation and self-insurance frameworks.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to continuous improvement.

Why Join Us?

At Detmold Group, we’re committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and high-performing workplace. You’ll be part of a team that values innovation, supports professional growth, and makes a meaningful impact across our global operations.
