Cyber Security Analyst

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Cyber Security Analyst to join our growing IT security team. In this critical role, you will be responsible for monitoring, assessing, and responding to security threats and incidents, ensuring our systems, networks, and data remain secure. You will work across teams to implement best-practice security measures, respond to vulnerabilities, and help strengthen our organisation’s security posture.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor systems and networks for security breaches, anomalies, and threats
• Investigate and respond to security incidents in a timely and effective manner
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and manage remediation activities
• Maintain and support security tools such as firewalls, SIEM, endpoint protection, and intrusion detection systems
• Implement and enforce security policies, procedures, and controls
• Support compliance with relevant standards such as ISO 27001, ASD Essential Eight, and the Australian Privacy Act
• Provide security awareness training and education to employees
• Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices
• Assist with internal and external audits and risk assessments

About You

• Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, or a related field
• 2+ years of experience in a cyber security or IT security-focused role
• Knowledge of security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, ASD Essential Eight)
• Experience with SIEM tools, firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus, and cloud security platforms
• Familiarity with common attack vectors and mitigation strategies (e.g., phishing, malware, DDoS)
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CEH, or AWS Security (desirable)
• Australian Citizenship or ability to obtain baseline security clearance (for government roles)
