The role
The Community Rehab Service (CRS) Speech Pathologists are key members of the CRS multidisciplinary team. The successful applicant will provide high quality speech pathology interventions in various community settings for a range of neurological conditions. Intervention may occur:
- In the client's own home or another community setting
- In a range of supported accommodation houses or facilities
- In the Outpatient Department at Royal Rehab at Ryde
- Via telehealth or phone consults
Your main duties will include:
- Providing high quality, timely speech pathology services to clients in line with evidence-based principles
- To work as part of the multidisciplinary team within CRS and the wider Speech Pathology team at Royal Rehab Ryde. This may involve working in or providing cover to other community and inpatient units from time to time
We seek a self-motivated and friendly individual with:
Essential
- Degree in Speech Pathology & eligible for practicing membership of Speech Pathology Australia
- Minimum 3 years' experience in providing speech pathology services within a rehabilitation framework
- An ability to demonstrate the following:
- Recent experience and clinical skills working with clients with neurological conditions, and/or chronic disability
- Experience/expertise in acquired communication and swallowing impairment
- Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team
- Understanding and familiarity with health and disability related community services
- Sound time management skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and complete tasks
- Demonstrated competence in high level interpersonal communication, negotiation, conflict resolution
- Demonstrated ability to implement evidenced based practice and outcome measurement and commitment to participation in supervision and professional development
- Ability to work well independently
- Computer literacy including demonstrated competence using Microsoft Word, email and internet
- Current C unrestricted driver's licence, good driving record and own car (Staff may be required to travel to visits in their own vehicle. Mileage/ petrol costs can be claimed)
Desirable
- Practicing member of Speech Pathology Australia
- Active interest in quality and research
- Experience with staff, student and/or Allied Health Assistant supervision
- Current LSVT training
Applicants who do not meet the Allied Health Award Level 3 criteria may still be considered and offered a contract with an award rate in line with their current clinical experience.
