About the Role: 

We are looking to add 2 new roles to our Regional Services team. The Development and Regional Adaptation Lead (DRA) for Climate, Environment, Soils and Irrigation leads the integration of new science and established knowledge into practical services and resources that support and promote change and adoption of new practices on-farm.  

Working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, the Climate, Environment, Soils and Irrigation DRAs will lead and co-ordinate the development of extension resources and other routes to practice change, that are focused on more productive, profitable and resilient farm businesses, and are adapted for a range of farming systems. The role also requires some delivery of extension to farmer facing and service provider audiences. 

These roles will require high level expertise of a technical discipline combined with the experience (or ability) to apply this knowledge to Australian dairy farms. The successful candidate will have experience in collaborating with farmers and/or advisors to integrate new technology and practices into farm businesses/systems. A knowledge of agricultural extension theory and/or experience in learning development/ design would be highly regarded.

To make an impact in this role, you will have a farmer first mindset and a determination to drive successful and practical outcomes for farmers utilising your technical expertise within a whole farm system context. The DRA will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to identify desired on-farm practice change and will have the ability to integrate new and established knowledge and provide innovative thinking and insights to create engaging pathways for farmers to adopt new practices in their businesses. 

Having a significant technical expertise in Climate, Environment, Soils and Irrigation and a knowledge of farm systems will be key to extension development, as will a strong understanding of adult learning principles and the ability to adapt messaging to different target audiences. 

A qualification in agriculture, environment science, veterinary science, behavioural science or a related field or significant agricultural experience in one of more of these areas will support the success of the DRA. Cert 4 TAE will also be highly regarded.
