About the Role:  

We are looking for an expert in media and communications to drive growth in Dairy Australia’s engagement with national and regional media.  

As Media Manager for Dairy Australia, you’ll be responsible for the development, implementation and management of Dairy Australia’s media strategy, approach to thought leadership and speech writing.  

Reporting to the Head of Communications, you’ll work cross-functionally with our national team and eight regional locations, and communicate to our key stakeholders - farmers, industry and the broader community. 

You will be driven, forward thinking and a great planner, ensuring alignment with key organisational and industry priorities. 

From a media perspective, you will be responsible for both proactive and reactive media relations, key message development, briefing key spokespeople, and measuring success.  

You’ll also develop and deliver our approach to thought leadership, with the view to providing value to our key stakeholders. You will use your expert writing abilities and understanding of our stakeholders to help our team develop speeches and presentations at conferences and forums. 

About you:

You will bring qualifications in communications or journalism (or a related field) as well as a minimum of five years’ experience managing media on a daily basis and working with cross functional teams. You will have an extensive understanding of the Australian media landscape and a proven ability to connect with a wide range of audiences, including farmer, industry and community. An ability to build productive and positive relationships with a broad range of media will be key. 

You will also be able to demonstrate experience in corporate public relations and the adoption of strategic approaches to content creation and delivery. Experience developing a thought leadership strategy and writing speeches would be highly regarded.
