About the Role

The National Operations Centre (NOC) Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the continuous safety, coordination, and support of our security services across the company’s operations nationally.

The NOC Operator is responsible for monitoring, coordinating, and supporting security operations across all Challenger Security client sites during daytime hours. This role ensures timely incident response, maintains clear communication with field staff, and provides operational support to both clients and internal teams. The operator acts as the central point of contact for operational intelligence and assists in maintaining a safe, secure, and efficient environment for clients.

 

Key Responsibilities

As a NOC Operator, your core duties will include:

  • Answer all inbound calls (first point of contact).
  • Monitor live feeds from CCTV, alarm systems, and other security technologies across client sites.
  • Identify, escalate, and document unusual activity or security incidents.
  • Coordinate with on-site security personnel to resolve incidents promptly.
  • Serve as the primary contact for client queries and operational updates during the day.
  • Maintain clear and concise logs of all incidents, communications, and operational events.
  • Liaise with local authorities, emergency services, and internal teams when required.
  • Complete relevant scheduling and rostering of security personnel.
  • Support the NOC Supervisor with daily operational tasks and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with Challenger Security procedures and client-specific requirements.
  • Receive, assess, and respond to incidents in accordance with SOPs.
  • Provide support and guidance to on-site guards during incidents.
  • Generate detailed incident reports for internal records and client communication.
  • Maintain operational systems, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Prepare operational reports and summaries as requested by management.
  • Assist in auditing security operations and site compliance where necessary.

 

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Prior experience in a security control room, NOC, or related operations role.
  • Strong understanding of security management systems (CCTV, alarms, access control. Guard Management).
  • Excellent communication, multitasking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make quick decisions.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to SOPs and client protocols.
  • Good customer service skills and excellent phone manner.
  • Relevant security licensing in Victoria (e.g., Security Licence – Control Room Operator).
  • Basic IT skills and familiarity with reporting software.


Desirable Attributes:

  • Previous experience in high risk / high pressure client security.
  • Knowledge of incident escalation protocols.
  • Proactive attitude with a focus on client service.

 

Working Conditions:

  • 0600 – 1800 hours rotating day shifts (Monday – Sunday).
  • Stationed at a secure operations centre in Port Melbourne.
  • May involve prolonged periods of sitting and monitoring systems.
