MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN
Corryong Health (CH) is a public sector agency and one of six multi-purpose services in Victoria. CH is funded by Commonwealth and Victorian State Government funding, and provides a broad range of hospital, residential aged care, medical and primary health and community support services.
Position Objective
The Mental Health Clinician supports clients with Mental Health issues, by providing culturally appropriate mental health services and interventions to clients and their families. The role is predominately focused on moderate to high intensity levels of care.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide mental health services and support to individuals and their families across levels of care ranging from moderate to high intensity.
- Provide support for family members of those with a mental illness, including respite options.
- Support service coordination and Continuum of Care as well as accept case management.
- Conduct mental health assessments, including risk assessments, to inform care planning and ensure safety for individuals and their support networks.
- Work collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care for clients, including liaising with internal and external service providers, working with family and friends, and actively participate in case review meetings.
- Develop pathways to support people to access crisis services.
- Support Mental Health Promotion.
- Implement the Corryong Health Mental health service plan.
- Support community groups and organisations in respect to Mental health issues.
- Provide Generalist counselling as required.
- Provide support co-ordination for relevant NDIS participants.
- Provide mental health outreach as required.
Selection criteria
Essential
- A qualified mental health professional or clinician registered with the appropriate accrediting body
- Knowledge of and experience providing high quality mental health services consistent with contemporary and evidence-based practice
- Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
- Experience assessing and treating individuals with a range of mental health presentations, including trauma informed care.
- Ability to communicate effectively and consult, liaise and influence key personnel in the health service and the sector
- Ability to prepare client notes, briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear concise and grammatically correct language
Desirable
- Social workers registered with the Australian Association of Social Workers; clinical or provisional psychologists; or counsellors registered with the Australian Counselling Association or Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia.
- Training and/or experience in peri-natal mental health, child mental health and/or older person’ mental health
- Proven understanding of the role and value of healthcare organisations in a rural environment
