Who We Are

iSelect and Compare the Market are trusted, well-known brands dedicated to helping millions of Australians compare and buy personal finance and household products such as insurance, energy, and loans. Together, we provide a seamless, customer-focused experience that makes it easier for Australians to find the right products to suit their needs.

What You’ll Be Doing

We’re looking for an accomplished, hands-on Senior Editor to manage and lead our Brisbane-based writing team and raise the standard of Compare the Market’s digital content.

This role is built on direct editorial work. You’ll personally copyedit and substantively edit complex long-form content, identifying weaknesses in structure, reasoning, accuracy, clarity and flow. You’ll explain your editorial decisions clearly, help writers apply that reasoning to future work and develop a team that produces stronger content with progressively less intervention.

Alongside this foundation, you’ll lead writer performance, oversee content through the publishing pipeline, resolve cross-functional editorial issues and contribute practical editorial insight to new content approaches. You’ll work closely with iSelect's Senior Editor to align editorial processes and expectations across teams, as well as with SEO, Brand, Marketing, Commercial and Compliance specialists to balance discoverability, customer value, accuracy and regulatory requirements.

You’ll also help evolve how the team works, including the responsible use of AI, automation and emerging answer-engine practices, while keeping originality, evidence and strong editorial judgement at the centre of our content.

Where you’ll help raise the bar:

  • Personally copyedit and substantively edit complex long-form content
  • Diagnose weaknesses in copy and give clear, practical editorial direction
  • Coach writers to apply feedback and produce stronger work independently
  • Set quality and output expectations and address recurring performance issues
  • Oversee work through the content and approval pipeline
  • Resolve competing editorial, search, commercial and compliance requirements
  • Turn agreed content approaches into usable guidance for writers
  • Use evidence from editorial review to improve standards, workflows and future content

What Sets You Apart

You're an experienced editor who understands that great content is about more than good writing. You understand how great content comes together, balancing editorial excellence, SEO performance, audience needs and compliance to create content people can trust.

You've spent significant time working closely with writers, editing copy, providing coaching and helping them consistently improve their output. You're comfortable balancing quality and productivity, and you know how to guide writers to produce content that is both engaging and commercially effective.

You'll bring:

  • At least 10 years’ experience across professional editorial environments, including at least 5 years in substantive editing roles
  • Demonstrated responsibility for writer quality, development and performance
  • Advanced judgement developed through editing complex, evidence-led content
  • The ability to diagnose substantive as well as sentence-level weaknesses
  • Ability to explain editorial decisions clearly, set clear quality expectations and support writers to apply feedback consistently.
  • Strong relationship-management skills and the ability to navigate competing priorities across teams
  • Strong knowledge of on-page SEO and digital content practice
  • The ability to learn and then teach evolving AI-search and answer-engine requirements
  • Experience editing regulated or complex content, or a proven ability to learn unfamiliar industries quickly
