The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a safety-focused and motivated Process Plant Operator to join the team at Cockburn Cement's Kwinana operation.

This hands-on role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a range of automated processing assets including raw material drying systems, cement mills, hydration plants, blending facilities and bulk dispatch operations. Working within a highly automated manufacturing environment, you will play a key role in ensuring production targets, product quality and customer requirements are consistently achieved.

This position offers the opportunity to work with state-of-the-art processing equipment, automated control systems and advanced laboratory technologies while contributing to the production of materials essential to Australia's construction and infrastructure sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor automated cement manufacturing and material handling equipment.
  • Control production processes through SCADA and process control systems.
  • Conduct product sampling, testing and quality assurance activities.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and assist with fault diagnosis and equipment optimisation.
  • Coordinate safe plant isolations and permit-to-work activities.
  • Operate mobile equipment including forklifts, skid steers and front-end loaders.
  • Monitor inventory levels and support efficient production planning.
  • Assist with bulk product dispatch and customer order fulfilment.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards across the site.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, reliability, efficiency and plant performance.

About You

  • Experience operating fixed plant within a heavy industrial, manufacturing, mining, quarrying, cement, lime or processing environment.
  • Current Forklift Licence (LF) or the ability to obtain one.
  • Experience operating automated production equipment and process control systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting capability.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and environmental compliance.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with quality control, product testing or laboratory processes will be highly regarded.
  • Comfortable using technology including SCADA systems, tablets and computer-based reporting tools.
