About the role
You will play a pivotal role in the success of our tendering and project acquisition activities.
Operating within the Precontracts team, this senior position combines project delivery expertise with strategic bid leadership to ensure our submissions reflect both operational excellence and delivery credibility.
Based in our Brisbane Head Office, this is a Monday-to-Friday role. No rosters. Home every night with the satisfaction of influencing major civil projects.
- Lead the coordination of complex tenders and EOIs - translating delivery insight into winning strategies;
- Develop clear, evidence-based methodologies, programs, and narratives that reflect CMC’s on-ground capability;
- Collaborate with senior leadership to plan, position, and present submissions that stand out;
- Support project start-ups, client briefings, and methodology reviews to ensure a seamless handover from tender to delivery;
- Mentor engineers and pre-contracts staff, sharing practical knowledge and delivery logic that set bids apart.
About you
You’re an experienced Project Manager or Senior Project Manager with at least 10 years’ experience delivering civil infrastructure projects - roads, bridges, bulk earthworks, or similar.
You'd prefer to work primarily from a Brisbane Head Office but still remain closely connected to project delivery where you'll be capable of contributing to start-ups, client briefings, and methodology development.
In addition:
- You hold a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil or related) and ideally have - or are working towards - RPEQ or CPEng;
- Have a strong understand tender methodologies, bid strategy, and pre-contracts processes, and can spot what makes a submission credible from a mile away;
- Commercial and contractual acumen - you know how the numbers, risks, and delivery models play out on the ground;
- You’re a clear communicator, able to translate technical detail into client-focused, compelling bid content;
- Feel comfortable and confident leading and mentoring others - engineers, estimators, coordinators - helping them connect strategy to site reality;
- Have proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and document collaboration platforms;
- And above all, you’ve got initiative, humour, and drive - because culture matters just as much as capability.
