About the role

We have an immediate opening for an Environmental Engineer based at our Brisbane HO covering multiple road, bridge, and civil projects.

Office hours are 8 am – 5 pm but you would also be travelling to projects across Qld and northern NSW as required.

All travel and accommodation costs will be covered.

You will play a vital role in developing and implementing effective environmental strategies that promote safe and efficient project construction, engaging with the construction teams and their partners to build assets that support both the community and the environment.

 

  • Advising on environmental matters and managing EPBC referral outcomes;
  • Liaison with Project Managers and relevant authorities on environmental matters, including inspection requirements;
  • Promoting a cooperative approach to the protection and management of the environment involving governments, the community, land-holders, and Indigenous peoples;
  • Maintaining a register of environmental management documents;
  • Overseeing erosion and sediment control on sites;
  • Conducting regular inspections and audits to ensure environmental safeguards;
  • Identifying areas for improvement and implementing changes as necessary;
  • Preparing monthly reports on works and achievements;
  • Developing environmental induction and toolbox talks for site personnel;
  • Authority to stop work to prevent environmental non-conformities;
  • Notification of environmental incidents to relevant parties.

 

About you

We are looking for someone who is passionate about championing environmental systems and has the ability to influence both internal and external stakeholders to achieve continual environmental improvement.

You will be working on challenging civil projects with high environmental impacts so to join our talented team you will need the following:

 

  • A Degree or Diploma in Environmental Engineering/Science or a Civil Engineering degree with minors and/or a diploma in Environmental Engineering/Science;
  • 5+ years’ experience as a site-based advisor working in environmental compliance on TMR or equivalent road and bridge construction projects;
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with key stakeholders;
  • A strong track record of identifying, developing, planning, and overseeing the implementation of appropriate environment programs, policies, and procedures within civil road and bridge construction projects.
