AI & Automation Specialist

The Opportunity

Christchurch Airport is on a mission to unlock value by embedding AI and intelligent automation into the way we work. We’re looking for an AI and Automation Specialist to design and deliver smart, practical solutions that improve productivity, reduce manual effort, and enhance digital capability across our teams.

This role is about turning ideas into action—building with tools like Custom GPTs, Microsoft Copilot Studio, and low/no-code automation platforms—to help people work smarter and focus on what matters most.

What You’ll Do

• Work from a prioritised backlog to scope, validate, and deliver high-value AI and automation opportunities
• Design and build intelligent workflows, apps, and automations that streamline processes and remove repetitive tasks
• Create and deploy Custom GPTs, Copilot Studio apps, and 365-based solutions across our ecosystem
• Pilot, test, and iterate solutions to ensure usability, adoption, and real impact
• Coach and enable teams to safely and confidently use AI in their daily work
• Translate complex technical workflows into clear, accessible business language
• Track adoption and impact, ensuring solutions deliver measurable value

What You Bring

• A qualification in IT, engineering, computer science, or similar (or equivalent experience)
• 3+ years’ experience in IT, technology projects, or digital transformation
• Hands-on experience with Custom GPTs, Microsoft Copilot Studio and other AI and automation tools
• Strong baseline technical expertise and solution design skills
• Experience with documentation, handover, and change management practices
• Understanding of responsible AI, data privacy, and security considerations
