The opportunity
This part-time role will give you the opportunity to have a big impact on visitor's impressions of Christchurch Airport, often being the first or last person they interact with when they arrive at or depart the Pick up/ Drop off zone, or one of our car-parks.
This is a part-time shift position, with each shift being 6 hours in duration, operating on a 4 days on/4 days off pattern, with the rotation covering a 24/7 operating period.
Our Ground Transport Officers provide face-to-face customer service and operational support to all users of Christchurch International Airport through effective and efficient traffic facilitation. As a Ground Transport team member, you will be working around the car parks, in key areas of the service lanes and the Pick up/drop off area. You will receive training to provide quick and easy solutions for our customers, problem solving and promoting our car parking products.
As a member of the Ground Transport team, you will thrive on being responsible for:
- Delivering the best customer service to everyone moving through the Airport, regularly exceeding people's expectations
- Ensuring high levels of safety and security are maintained
- Being well prepared and ready to assist with emergencies
- Communicating effectively and building working relationships across CIAL teams to ensure smooth operations
As our ideal candidate, you will:
- Look forward to working on a shift roster basis covering the 24/7 operation, including working night shifts
- Be physically fit, as you will be on your feet and walking around for most of the shift outside
- Thrive on customer service for diverse people and needs - you are a natural people-person with an outgoing and friendly demeanour and great verbal communication skills
- Have achieved a minimum of NCEA Level 3
- Have a clean full drivers’ licence
- Have a high level of attention to detail, with strong problem solving and conflict de-escalation skills
- Ideally be familiar with Christchurch City and the Airport area, but this is not compulsory
