OSHC (Outside School Hour Care) are services for families, children and schools across Victoria. Suitable for children aged from five to 12 years old, we offer both before and after school care and school holiday programs.

About the opportunity?

The Y Victoria is currently seeking a permanent full-time Coordinator for our OSHC Program at Armstrong Creek Primary School. You will have a passion for providing engaging experiences for all children, including those with additional needs. In this role you will work directly with the children in the service, providing them with the care, guidance and resources they need to thrive. 

The hourly rate for the position is between $34 - $41 p/hour (depending on your qualification) + 12% super.

You will be responsible for: 

  • Developing and implementing a tailored OSHC program of 50-100 children that addresses the specific needs and interests of each child, particularly those with additional needs; 
  • Ensuring students are supported in exploring and fulfilling their needs, expectations, and goals; 
  • Creating a safe and inclusive learning environment that promotes positive behaviour and social and emotional wellbeing; 
  • Leading and managing a strong team of educators who support you in operating a high quality and fun Outside of School Hours Care program, with the assistance of your Coordinator; 
  • Establishing and maintaining network relationships with key stakeholders, service providers, and referral services; 
  • Ensuring accurate monitoring and reporting through meticulous family record-keeping, adhering to confidentiality and privacy requirements; 
  • Addressing complex barriers impacting a student's access to appropriate supports. 

About You 

Our ideal candidate is a natural leader with a strong background in education and working with children with additional needs. Your understanding of best practices in education, behavior management, and child development enables you to lead by example and drive continuous improvement within your team. You will: 

  • Be compassionate, empathetic, and resilient, with a genuine passion for supporting the unique needs of every child and family 
  • Have great organisational and administration skills and proficiency in IT, specifically Microsoft office and Qikkids 
  • Be an empowering mentor, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within your team 
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills

What do you need?

  • You’ll need to have either completed or be working towards a Diploma or tertiary-level qualification as determined by ACECQA (see the link below)
  • You’ll need to have, or be willing to obtain a First Aid in an Education & Care Setting certificate (or equivalent)
  • You’ll need to have, or be willing to obtain a valid Victorian Working with Children’s Check – employee check
  • You’ll need to have, or be willing to obtain a Food Safety Supervisor certificate within the first month of your employment

There are a variety of qualifications that ACECQA has approved to work within OSHC ranging from education to community services to healthcare. All Coordinators must be at a minimum, Diploma-level qualified.
