About the Assignment 

Working collaboratively as a part of a high performing payroll team, the Project Payroll Officer will help deliver payroll projects, so our business-as-usual payroll team are able to deliver great payroll outcomes to our employees.

With a positive approach and excellent attention to detail, you will support with the delivery of payroll project activity. Your work will be varied and may include:

  • Support with the delivery of payroll projects to ensure BAU payroll activities are segregated for project and process improvement related activities.
  • Support with project remediation activities including: review and delivery of audit recommendations including payroll reconciliations, superannuation, data remediation, leave review and reconciliations.
  • Contribute to process improvements by identifying opportunities and participate in a range of payroll and service delivery improvements.
  • Support with UAT for systems upgrades and configuration changes.
  • Maintain confidentiality and conduct in line with Santos values and policies.
  • Proactively champion process improvements.
  • Support, review and improve payroll process, procedures and work practices.


About You 

Your key skills and experience includes: 

  • Previous experience as a payroll officer in a large complex organisation.
  • Experience in delivering services that are compliant including governance and controls.
  • Sound systems including excel.
  • Strong written and verbal skills including effective communications across multiple levels of an organisation.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships across different levels of an organisation.
  • Well-developed teamwork skills, willing to assist others.


Essential Skills and Experience

  • Degree in finance HR or related discipline.
  • Highly capable and experienced in delivering the end-to-end payroll activity.
  • Experience working with a diverse employee population including field and office workers, award and award free employees.
  • Knowledge of contemporary Payroll / HR practices and tools including, HRIS systems & data analytics with a preference for Success Factors ECP /SAP.
