The Role

As a Principal Engineer in our ANZ business, your impact will be predominantly within the Stormwater and Flooding team. The team is a specialist group focusing on delivering solutions in the areas of Water Sensitive Urban Design (constructed waterbodies, bioretention, proprietary water quality devices etc.), hydrological investigations, 1D hydraulic modelling and 2D regional flood modelling.

You will have the opportunity to work in an agile environment being part of diverse projects whilst working alongside a strong, passionate and experienced team delivering innovative solutions.


What you’ll do

  • Lead Meetings with project stakeholders including clients, other Egis disciplines as well as external consultants;
  • Developing strategies and work methodologies to meet the requirements of the projects;
  • Overseeing and QA on water quality modelling using MUSIC software and developing treatment devices to ensure developments achieve necessary water quality objectives;
  • Overseeing and QA on hydrological modelling within XPRAFTS and WBNM. Experience in URBS is also valuable;
  • Overseeing and QA for 1D hydraulic investigations (using XPSWMM/XPSTORM and HEC-RAS) and 2D flood investigations (using TUFLOW)
  • Mentor and training engineers within the team to help support their development

 

What we are looking for

  • A Bachelor of Civil or Environmental Engineering or other relevant qualification
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience within the stormwater and flooding field.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working on urban development projects for private developers as well as projects for state and local government.
  • A good understanding/comprehension of common hydrological and hydraulic investigations undertaken as part of urban development.
  • Experience undertaking and preparing Stormwater Management Plans and Flood Impact Assessments.
  • Strong understanding of MUSIC, XPRAFTS, WBNM, XPSWMM/XPSTORM, HEC‑RAS, TUFLOW, ArcMAP and QGIS software packages.
  • An encouraging attitude towards helping to develop members of the team as well as drive to grow your own career.
