As a Principal Process Engineer at Calibre, you will take on a critical role as the Process Engineering SME joining a multidisciplinary project team working on long-term major projects at various stages of the project life cycle ranging from studies through to implementation. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the process design for major projects with accountability for process engineering design deliverables including mass and energy balances, process design criteria, and PFDs.
  • Support multidisciplinary design development and provide process engineering input to other area design deliverables such as P&IDs, process plant operating philosophy, control system philosophy, conveyor calculations, and chute simulations.
  • Lead and manage a team of process engineers on allocated projects, where required.
  • Liaise with other engineering disciplines and project staff to ensure optimal outcomes for clients and project delivery.
  • Work to a high professional and ethical standard while growing value to the broader Calibre process engineering group and the reputation of our wider organisation.

Thrive with us! We hope you’ll bring

  • Bachelor of Chemical Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Metallurgy with a minimum of 15 years of professional experience.
  • Minimum 10 years of engineering design experience and 5 years of operations experience are preferred.
  • A high level of experience in iron ore engineering design to an SME level, including demonstrated hematite and wet plant beneficiation experience. Additional magnetite experience would be also preferred.

  • Strong capability in flow sheet development, experience and competency with LIMn model development are desirable.
  • Strong capability in interpreting large datasets and undertaking historical trend analysis including statistical analysis.
  • On site plant commissioning experience is highly desirable, particularly in iron ore wet plant environments. This role may require time on site to support process plant commissioning and performance verification.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills including the ability to lead process engineering discussions in multidisciplinary design review workshops, and the ability to produce engineering documentation including reports, presentations, and specifications.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with internal engineering peers as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Ability to establish strong working relationships with both client technical peers and client project stakeholders.
