Casual Cargo Screening Officers – Certis Security Australia

Certis Security Australia is seeking Casual Cargo Screeners to support Cargo Screening Operations across multiple sites. Based in Cairns, this role plays a critical part in protecting Australia’s aviation supply chain.

As a Cargo Screener, you’ll ensure air freight is screened to the highest safety and compliance standards before it enters the aviation network. This is a hands-on, high-trust role ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, thrives in unique environments, and takes pride in work that truly matters.

Whether you bring aviation experience or are ready to step into a specialised security pathway, Certis will support you with industry-leading training and development.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Conduct cargo screening using approved aviation methods (X-ray, ETD, physical inspection)
• Ensure compliance with strict government aviation security regulations
• Identify prohibited or dangerous items with accuracy and vigilance
• Complete compliance documentation to regulatory standards
• Maintain secure control of screening equipment and restricted areas
• Represent Certis professionally as the on-site security specialist
• Work independently in remote or semi-remote locations
• Work varied shifts across a 7-day roster (4–12 hour shifts)

What You’ll Need

Mandatory

• Valid Security Licence
• Ability to hold or obtain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)

Highly Regarded

• Previous cargo or passenger screening experience
• Experience using X-ray and screening equipment
• Ability to work unsupervised with full accountability

To Be Successful, You Must

• Be reliable and able to attend all rostered shifts
• Commit to 7-day roster (4–12 hour shifts)
