Security Officer - Gatehouse

We’re looking for an experienced Casual Gatehouse Security Officer (Level 4) to join a busy TGE Logistics Melbourne site, helping keep vehicles, people, and freight moving safely and efficiently.

This is a fast-paced logistics environment where you’ll be the first point of contact at the gatehouse, playing a key role in site access, safety, and security.

About the Role

You’ll be working in a 24/7 gatehouse environment, supporting day-to-day operations and ensuring only authorised people and vehicles access the site.

It’s a hands-on role where attention to detail, clear communication, and a strong safety mindset are essential.

Key responsibilities include:

• Controlling site access and preventing unauthorised entry
• Conducting vehicle and bag inspections
• Completing accurate, real-time data entry into live national Excel spreadsheets (driver and vehicle information)
• Communicating frequently with TGE operations via two-way radio and phone systems
• Conducting site inductions for drivers and visitors as required
• Monitoring CCTV, access control, and electronic surveillance systems
• Operating access control systems (issuing cards, locking/unlocking doors, auditing access)
• Recording incidents, breaches, and safety concerns
• Assisting with on-the-job training of other officers
• Performing duties across Levels 1–3 when required (without deskilling)

Work Environment – TGE Site

• Modern, fully heated and air-conditioned gatehouse
• High-risk logistics environment with continuous heavy vehicle movement
• Physically active role with frequent walking between gatehouse and driveways
• Breaks taken at post when practical (officers cannot leave post)
• Free, secure on-site parking

Mandatory Requirements

• Current Security Licence – Cert II
• Current First Aid Certificate
• Ability to work independently and unsupervised
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Physically fit and safety focused
• Driver’s Licence
