We are seeking an experienced NV2‑cleared Security Lead to perform a high-profile role in safe-guarding a major Telecommunications Data Centre in Canberra. This is a critical frontline supervisory role where professionalism, vigilance and integrity are essential.
$8,000 Sign on Bonus available! (for full time employees payable in two instalments; completion of 6-month probation and 12 months tenure).
About the role
The security team in this location play an important role in ensuring that our client’s data integrity is always maintained. Your role as the Security Lead is to ensure the guarding team, as well as yourself, act as the first point of contact for visitors and contractors entering these locations where you will set the tone; delivering a professional and welcoming experience whilst upholding strict security protocols.

Contract: Permanent opportunity – full time
Pay Rate: SSIA Level 5
Shift Pattern: Ability to work rotating day and nights shifts of 12 hours
Key responsibilities:
Primary duties include but are not limited to:
- Leading on‑shift operations, providing direction, briefings, and oversight to ensure consistent standards, professionalism, and team performance
- Acting as the site escalation point, managing incidents, compliance issues, and liaising with the client and internal leadership as required.
- Ensuring operational continuity, overseeing staffing coverage, shift handovers, and the quality of reporting and documentation.
- Proactively managing team welfare and performance consistency across the shift.
- Provision of training, education and upskilling team to exceed performance
- Provision of exemplary customer service, with some administrative tasks.
- Ensuring adherence to all site security procedures, policies and access control requirements to meet audit requirements
- Identifying and preventing prohibited items from being introduced to or removed from secure areas
- Raising, updating and managing access requests using client security systems and software
- Responding to, escalating and documenting incidents with clear, accurate written reports and daily activity logs
- Maintaining a strong safety-first mindset and leading by example in compliance and professionalism
About You
- Mandatory Australian citizenship, due to government clearance requirements
- Current NV-2 Clearance
- Must have Security Licence, Classification 1A (Unarmed Leading) & 1E (Monitoring Centre Operator)
- Valid First Aid Certificate (3 years validity) with current CPR Certificate (1 year validity)
- Ability to clear an Australian Police Check
- Previous supervisory, leadership or mentoring experience of a high performing team
- Lead by example – support a safety and compliance culture
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Conflict resolution and negation skills required
- Strong multi-tasking abilities
- Intermediate PC skills (MS Suite)
- Report writing and Site patrol duties
- Excellent observational skills
- Experience communicating via two-way radio
