About the Role

Reporting to the Fleet Manager, you’ll oversee the day-to-day operations of the CDC NSW Panel Shop. Your focus will be on ensuring safe, high-quality, and cost-effective delivery of vehicle repairs and refurbishments, while managing workshop planning, quoting, compliance, and staff coaching.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee repair/refurbishment jobs, ensuring timelines and budget targets are met
  • Collaborate with staff to assess damage and determine scopes of work
  • Prepare accurate estimates for labour, materials, and third-party services
  • Liaise with insurers, assessors, and the claims team to get approvals and process variations
  • Manage workshop resources and ensure the quality of completed work
  • Monitor costs vs. estimates and provide variance reports
  • Coach and mentor the workshop team to improve safety and efficiency
  • Manage ERP transactions, internal sales orders, and parts catalogue pricing
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with HSE standards and promote a strong safety culture

What You’ll Need

Qualifications:

  • Trade qualified Spray Painter or Panel Beater (essential)
  • Certificate IV in Front Line Management (preferred)
  • HR Driver's Licence, Forklift Licence, EWP Licence (all preferred)

Experience:

  • Strong background in heavy vehicle repair, ideally in the bus industry
  • Leadership experience in a panel shop or smash repair setting
  • Proven ability to prepare quotes and timelines accurately
  • Experience managing insurance repairs and claims processes

Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills
  • Excellent planning and resource management
  • Confident with Microsoft Office and ERP systems
  • Ability to influence and coach others
