1. Objectives of the Position
This fulltime role will report to the Charter Operations Supervisor and be part of the Operations Team, Monday to Friday from 5:00AM to 1:30PM. The Yard Person is primarily responsible in ensuring buses are cleaned and prepared according to the standard required. Yard Person may be rostered to drive buses, from time to time, based on the operations’ requirement.
2. Key Performance Requirements and Duties
- Ensure depot’s bus fleet are well presented – buses washed, and bus tyres painted as required.
- Check and maintain fuel, oil, water and AdBlue in buses, and ensure buses are cleaned (interior and exterior).
- Manoeuvre and park buses safely in the yard in accordance with the bays allocated
- Ensure all recording procedures i.e. fuel, oil records, bus change records and time records are completed accurately.
- Monitor vandalism and report suspicious damage noticed on vehicle to supervisors
- Assist in identifying BOAS compliance issues and report through appropriate department.
- Liaise with the workshop in relation to defected or service due buses; arrange change if needed.
- General yard cleaning and maintenance duties regarding the facility management, depot infrastructure and grounds keeping.
- Maintain and update all electronic destos
- Conduct vehicle movements and depot transfers
- May be required to coordinate and / or provide bus replacement services in the field
- May be required to marshal mass movements.
- Actively identify and address any unsafe or unhealthy conditions, practices, or behaviour in the workplace, and follow CDC policies for reporting and escalation.
- If they are required to drive, then they need to follow the PD for a Bus Driver outline the key duties and responsibilities for this role}
- Following instructions and using the safety equipment provided
- Reporting hazards and incidents
- Coming to work in a fit state, free from fatigue, drugs, and alcohol
- Observe all company working practices and carry out reasonable ‘other’ duties if requested to do so.
2. Knowledge Specifications
- Working with Children Check
- Heavy Vehicle Driver’s License – Min. Heavy rigid
Although not essential the following would be highly regarded
- Knowledge of the bus industry or an equivalent industry
- Bus Operator Accreditation Scheme (BOAS)
- Public Passenger Driver Authority preferred but not essential
3. Experience Specifications
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to work outdoors in all sorts of weather conditions
- Any previous customer service experience would be well regarded
- Good knowledge of fleet maintenance.
