What you’ll be doing

The role will see you join a group of talented platform engineers, where you’ll use your previous experience to uplift our platform products and services. This means having worked across design, build and testing phases of cloud architectures and solutions. You will play a key role engaging our consumers and stakeholders to help them take full advantage of the Catch platform

 Key duties and deliverables:

  • Guide development teams in building resilient, performant, and cost-efficient systems
  • Work alongside our architecture function to establish and promote modern cloud solutions.
  • Play a key role in settings standards and engineering best practices across the business.
  • Drive adoption of Platform products and services
  • Advocate for all things Cloud and drive community engagement within the business.
  • Mentor more junior platform engineers.
  • Work with key stakeholders in planning and estimation processes.
  • Contribute to team planning, present work completed at showcases and provide continuous feedback to your team and peers

Principal Platform Engineer    

What you will need to be successful

  • Experience designing and building distributed systems using event-driven architecture and/or API's
  • You're a Kubernetes expert and ideally have experience implementing a multi-cluster, multi-region deployment strategy. 
  • Experience building cloud native systems (AWS preferred) 
  • Experience implementing security controls in a cloud-based environment.
  • Excellent communication skills. You should be comfortable engaging with developers, architects, product owners and be able to articulate the benefits of Platform engineering to our stakeholders. 
  • Experience with at least one observability product (eg. Datadog, Newrelic) and a solid understanding of distributed tracing
  • Experience implementing performance commitments for products and experiences (eg SLA/SLO/SLIs)
  • Familiar with different disaster recovery strategies, load balancing & circuit breaking techniques.
  • Proficiency in PHP or Golang (nice to have)
