Catch is currently seeking a Head of Commercial Finance and Strategy to own and lead our strategic planning process, commercial decision support and as well partner with the various business units across Catch.

What you’ll be doing

What does a normal day in the life of the Head of Commercial Finance and Strategy look like? Well, no 2 days are alike at Catch, but you could probably expect your day to include some of the following things:

  •  Manage the end-to-end planning process for the business’ strategic planning process, including Corporate Planning and Budgeting.
  • Leverage outstanding communication and engagement skills to critique and challenge strategy. 
  • Present financial forecasts (both long term plans and short term forecasts / budgets) and strategy plans in high quality documents appropriate for board consumption.
  • Develop, using sophisticated modelling skills, the company wide forecast model, which can be used to develop the 5 year plan, budget and rolling monthly forecast. This is a complex three-way integrated model with P&L, cash flow and balance sheet. 
  • Provide commercial decision support to all functions in Catch
  • Work with functional teams to develop financial modelling and business cases to support key strategic and operational decisions. 
  • Challenge key assumptions and identify key value drivers
  • Prepare discounted cash flow analysis and options analyses
  • Prepare written business cases
  • Present recommendations to executive team including the Managing Director
  • Provide analysis and support to key functional areas (Trading, Fulfillment, Technology, Marketing)
  • Support is varied and examples of analysis could include:
  • Optimising paid performance marketing
  • Range review and rationalisation
  • Identifying opportunities to improve fulfillment cost outcomes and improve speed to customer
  • Promotional and pricing analysis and return on investment
  • Contribution analysis to highlight opportunities to improve order profitability
  • Building new business rate cards 

The skills you'll have

  • Tertiary qualification, preferably with financially focused post graduate qualification (e.g. CFA, CPA, CA, Applied Diploma or finance or similar) 
  • 7+ Years’ Experience in management consulting, corporate finance/investment banking, transaction services, valuation or similar role. 
  • Experience within e-commerce/retail is preferred, but not essential.
  • Outstanding communication, engagement, and project management skills comfortable operating at the most senior levels in an organisation. 
  • Very strong written skills; comfortable preparing board quality documentation in Powerpoint and Word.
  • Experience presenting up to board level.
  • Strong numeracy and operational/financial modelling skills.  High level of accuracy and attentional to detail.
  • Ability to tell a story with insightful commentary, analysis, charts and visual graphics.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a team member and independently to achieve identified goals.
  • Strong leadership skill and focus on growing and coaching talent
  • Strategic / commercial mindset.
  • Highly driven and results focused, takes on accountability for outcomes.
  • High level interpersonal skills with the ability to influence outcomes in an organisation with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities in a changing environment
  • Ability to challenge the status quo in a collaborative and engaging way
  • Relentless pursuit of accurate and relevant information
  • Ability to prioritise team efforts to support business requirements
