Carers NSW is the peak organisation for carers in NSW. We are a not-for-profit organisation connecting and empowering carers across NSW and improving their quality of life through activities, programs, training and policy advice. We advocate for carers of all ages and circumstances.

As the Acting Manager Policy & Development, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating on the business as usual activities and projects of the Carers NSW Policy team, providing policy and advocacy advice to the Executive Manager Policy, Development & Research in accordance with Carers NSW Strategic Directions and coordinating Carers NSW policy responses to the State and Federal governments as required

This position is available due to a temporary internal movement and is a full time contract position until June 2026.

Our ideal candidate should possess the following skills and attributes:

  • Qualifications in Social or Political Science, Social Work, Public Health or other relevant areas
  • High level project management, team management and staff supervision skills
  • Experienced in policy analysis / development including ability to manage complex policy development issues 
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to represent Carers NSW policy positions and to speak publicly
  • Proven track record in liaising and building effective relationships with government, non-government and community organisations
  • High level verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated experience in policy development and report writing to a high standard
  • Knowledge of the role of key stakeholders including State and Australian Governments
  • Advanced computer and word processing skills
  • High level of quantitative and qualitative research skills

 Salary and Benefits
